Arta police probe car thefts and road races

ARTA Local police are investigating a recent wave of car thefts in the area.
The police believe that the stolen vehicles are being used for illegal races.
This weekend, a stolen Citroen Berlingo van was found abandoned on its side in a local field along the road to Betlem.
It had been stolen from near the Almudaina bar on Saturday night.
The local police have been on the case of the car thief or thieves for some time now but, as yet, no arrests have been made.
What is more all the vehicles are being stolen on Saturday nights.
The crime wave has caused a great deal of local concern in Arta while the police are also concerned about the nature of the illegal road races and that those taking part are not only breaking the law but also risking their lives.
