Crowds throng historic street market, defy crisis

CAPDEPERA
THERE was no sign of the recession yesterday at Capdepera's Mediaeval street market held against the spectacular backdrop of the town's historic hilltop castle.

The event which opened on Friday and lasts the whole weekend, has drawn crowds to Capdepera year after year, offering visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the past - in costume, music, gastronomy and crafts.

Jugglers and swordmen wove their way amongst the visitors to the accompaniment of fifes and drums, and craftsmen and women captivated passers-by with pottery, needlework and culinary skills.
