PALMA
NEARLY a million safety advice booklets are to be distributed among visitors and residents this summer.
The “Safe Balearics” campaign was unveiled by the Balearic government's emergency department chief Christina Ferrer (pictured) yesterday and 900'000 leaflets containing advice on what to do in the event of a forest fire, flood, torrential rain or accident in the mountains are to be handed out to all the local councils for distribution via their tourist offices and town halls.

The safety cards have been printed in Castellano, Catalan, English and German.
The local government hopes that the cards will not only prove helpful in the event of a crisis but also encourage people to be more aware of their surroundings and basic preventative procedures.
