SCORES of guests attended a gala reception on Tuesday night aboard the visiting Royal Navy frigate, Lancaster.
The event was hosted by the frigate´s skipper, Commander Rory Bryan and the British Consul Paul Abrey. Also attending was the British Naval attache from the British Embassy in Madrid Captain Frederick Price. Captain Price has Majorcan roots as he was born in Biniaraix near Soller and he still owns a home there. He said that he would love nothing better than for a Royal Navy minesweeper to visit the naval base at the Port of Soller. Captain Price was heavily involved in the Royal Navy operation earlier this year which saw hundreds of stranded British soldiers and tourists being evacuated from the Port of Santander aboard the Royal Navy assault ship Albion, during the volcanic ash crisis.

Commander Bryan said that his crew were really enjoying their stay in Majorca after a six month deployment in the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf.
The Lancaster has been involved in anti-piracy operations. A Type 23 frigate she is armed with Sea Wolf surface to air missiles, Harpoon surface to surface missiles and a Lynx helicopter.

Attending the reception on Tuesday night were a large number of members of the expatriate community and Spanish military officials.
