Palma.—The victim was known to the Local Police because he had lived in the Andratx area for the past 40 years and for some of that time had been homeless.

Originally from Jean, on the mainland, he had been living in the caravan parked in the municipal car park, apparently in semi poverty, for the past few years.

The alarm, was raised on Tuesday afternoon by a driver who parked up next to the caravan and was hit by a strong putrid smell coming from the caravan.
He called the police who were forced to break in to the vehicle.
Inside, they found the mummified body of the elderly man who police sources said yesterday, could have died a few weeks ago. Apparently, the police have a good idea what happened to the elderly man who was given food by the local nuns every day. However, it appears that no one had seen the elderly man for the past few weeks and now all the police can do is wait for the results of the autopsy to ascertain what happened.
