Palma.—A 48-year-old British holiday maker was yesterday sentenced to six years in jail and to pay the best part of 200'000 euros in costs and compensation for the death of 42-year-old Gary Vigors outside a bar in Magalluf in March 2011.

The accused, Thomas Swannell, who was 46-years at the time of the incident, has already served two years on remand in Palma prison and the remaining four years can be served in the UK, should he wish to return home as opposed to serving his sentence here in Palma.
