Capdepera.— Politicians in Capdepera are making a last ditch attempt to secure government funding to stop one of three historic watch towers in the municipality from complete collapse.

Located between the magnificent bay of Cala Mesquida and Cala Molto, the Son Jaumell watch tower, a monument declared as a heritage item, has long been the subject of a number of attempts by “ARCA” the Association for Historical Conserviation, to rescue it from crumbling away.

ARCA pointed out that the tower is frequently visited by both tourists and residents because of its superb landscape setting, and that the total abandonment of the tower, once part of a chain of island defences, is not promoting Capdepera.
