Party raises 2´000 euros for cancer research

RESIDENT Jackie Hendry continues with her efforts to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The latest was a party, hosted for the second year running by Bar Hollywoods in Magalluf.
Jackie reports “The party started with a tribute to Dire Straights at 8pm and the music didn't stop until the early hours. “I can't name all the stars who appeared and gave their time free of charge as the list would take up half a column, but I thank them again and again for their fabulous performances.” She goes on to say that the atmosphere was so fantastic, they couldn't draw the raffle until 1.30am. “We had nearly 100 prizes, all of which have been claimed. I would like to thank all the private individuals, companies and businesses both here and in the UK for donating some amazing and different prizes. “Most of all I would like to thank owners Dino and Julie, both of whom have suffered the loss of a very close relative to cancer, for putting in a huge amount of time to organise it all. “The end result? Over 2'000 euros raised for Cancer Research UK (reg. charity nº 1089464).” The next fundraising event to look forward to is the June Fair which will be held on the Paseo Calvia (opposite Meson Son Caliu on June 17, starting at about 11am. Jackie says “this will be similar to the Europe Day recently held in Palmanova but the theme is ‘buy your Christmas presents early in comfort!'
