THE price of a square metre of a second hand home in the Balearics last month was 2'286 euros, a 0.6 percent rise on the figure for April and one which put the Balearics as the region of Spain with the highest upturn in price in the country.

The rise in the cost of second hand homes in the Balearics contrasts with the average price decline at a national level of -0.1 percent. The average cost of a square metre in Spain is 2'371 euros. Thus, even though the Balearics had the highest price rise last month, it doesn't have the costliest property in the country - these are found in the Basque Country, Madrid and Catalonia.
