Palma.—Balearic airports are going to be handling ten percent more air and passengers traffic than last Summer.
According to sources for airport authority AENA, the demand for landing and take off slots between April and October this year, is ten percent up on 2012.

Palma's Son San Joan and Mahon airport in Minorca have the second and third highest number of new air routes this year with seven and six respectively
Barcelona's El Prat airport has the largest number of new air routes this year with ‘ten' new air links. The main reason for the surge in demand for the number of slots is the growth in Majorca's main holiday markets such as the British, Scandinavian, German, French and Russian. And what is more, this is further evidence that this Summer is going to be a good season with the Majorcan Hotel Federation already reporting a year-on-year up turn in occupancy. But, the Spanish market is going to let the tourist industry down.

According to a survey carried out by TripAdvisor, ‘30 percent of Spaniards' are going to reduce their holiday spending this year.
And, over half of Spaniards will change their holiday plans if they find a cheaper destination.
This Summer, the most popular overseas destinations are France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Brazil.
Of those staying at home, 44 percent prefer a beach holiday.
