ACCORDING to the Self-Employed Association (ATA) the self-employed in the Balearics work 7.9 hours longer than those who have a fixed salary. The Islands are amongst the Spanish self-governing Communities where there is an appreciable difference between the hours worked by these two distinct groups. The self-employed on the Islands work an average of 46.8 hours per week, while salaried employees register at 38.9 hours per week.
Catalonia and Andalucía are the Communitees where the greatest difference is noted in hours worked per week by the self-employed and salaried workers. The former work 8.6 hours longer. Following on behind come Galicia and Madrid (8.3 hours difference) and Extremadura and the Balearics (7.9 hours difference).
