Staff reporter PRINCESS Caroline of Monaco and her husband Ernst of Hanover flew to Majorca last weekend to attend a christening ceremony of a close British friend on the island. The couple arrived by private jet on Friday night accompanied by one of Ernst's sons and were whisked away to the Ran de Mar, a private annexe of the Hotel Formentor nestling by the water's edge just along the coast from the luxury hotel. The strictly private christening was held on Saturday and is believed to have taken place at a private chapel in Formentor. The celebrations were held at the British resident's home near Pollensa. Apart from Caroline and Ernst, the other guest to have been identified is Randolph Sachs, the son of Albert Sachs who was once married to Bridget Bardot. Caroline and Ernst's trip to Majorca is one of the first times the couple have left Monaco since Prince Rainier died and Ernst emerged from a coma in April. The couple have visited the island on previous occasions during their summer Mediterranean cruises but never spent much time ashore. Coincidentally, Princess Caroline's parents, the late Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly, stopped at the Hotel Formentor during their honeymoon visit in the late 60*s.
