Palma.—General Casimiro Jose Sanjuan Martinez, was yesterday sworn in as the new Commanding General of the Balearics, during a ceremony at Almudaina Palace in Palma.

The ceremony was presided over by the Colonel-in-Chief of Spanish land Forces, Jose Ignacio Medina Cebrian, who was accompanied by all the heads of the local security forces and the President of the Balearics, Jose Ramon Bauza and the Central Government Delegate, Teresa Palmer.

Born in Zaragoza, in 1953, Sanjuan has not only been on operational duties in Mozambique, Bosnia, Kosova and the Lebanon, where he hasbeen in command of the multinational task force, he has also worked for the Eurocorps intelligence service in cooperation with the U S.
