Palma.—Former Partido Popular, Balearic President and Secretary of State for the Environment, Jaume Matas, returns to court on December, 2 , for another hearing related to the Palma Arena corruption scandal.

Matas, who will learn next month if he is going to serve a jail term has already been sentenced, after having been found guilty in an earlier court case, relating to the same investigation, but will this time face a charge of Bribery.

This latest case centres around the irregular hiring of Matas's wife, Maita Ariel, by a leading luxury hotel.
Apparently, the hotelier paid Maite Areal, an annual salary of 42'111 euros, when she spent most of the time with her husband in Washington.
The Palma Arena case is an investigation into what happened to over 50 million euros, of public funds which were misappropriated during 2005 and 2007, when Matas was in power, and also involves the Duke of Palma, Iñaki Urdangarin.
