INCA
A new 17-kilometre long stretch of crash barrier along the Inca motorway's central reservation was unveiled yesterday.
The motor way crash barrier was not due to have been replaced until the next legislature when construction work is due to begin on widening the motorway north of Inca to three lanes but, in the face of growing pressure from the local authorities over the rising number of fatal accidents in the area, the green light for the project was given by the Council of Majorca four months ago. The President of the Council of Majorca, Francina Armengol, presided over yesterday's ceremony and said that if the project is going to save lives, the money has been well spent. She also apologised for the problems work has caused to traffic.
