MOTORISTS are in for a hard time this weekend as the endless road works and sports events will clog up the roads, causing delays and endless tailbacks, the traffic authorities have warned. Drivers can expect intermittent cuts in traffic on the road from the port of Andratx (PM-V 102-2) between 10am and 12.30pm tomorrow because of the Balearic Triathlon. The C-719 has been recommended as an alternative route to the port of Andratx.
TUNNEL OPENED
The Balearic government has opened the Cala Figuera tunnel on the Palmanova-Andratx road, to provide alternatives to regular users of the C-719.
It was opened yesterday and will remain open until the end of October, a government spokesman said.
But it is not just in the Andratx area where traffic problems can be expected.
The Inca motorway is being asphalted by the ministry of public works, housing and transport and this will be taking place today between 6am and 3pm.
Drivers are once again advised to take alternative routes.
The Manacor area has also been plagued with problems and these will get worse later this month as a large part of the town centre will be closed because of road works.
