THE Minstry for Public Works will this summer be keeping an eye on the two troublesome motorways where work is being carried out, between Palmanova and Peguera, and from Inca to Sa Pobla. During the summer Ministry officials will be strategically placed at the two sites so that “unbearable” situations can be avoided when there is an increase in traffic on these two popular roads. These observers will warn the Minstry of any exceptional” road problems which require additional measures, such as opening partially completed lanes, said the Minister for Public Works, Mabel Cabrer. Mabel Cabrer also added that the department is studying the possibility of opening two new lanes on the Palmanova to Peguera motorway from 20 July, which will improve traffic situations. With regards to the Inca motorway, he added that the resurfacing work has almost been finished and will be finished within the next few days, which will mean traffic delays will ease significantly. The Arenal to Llucmajor motorway will be opened to traffic within “fifteen to twenty days” and will help problems, he concluded. However, during the summer months these roads will be “difficult to drive on”, as drivers can not go above 60 kilometres per hour, Mabel Cabrer said.
