STAFF REPORTER AFTER a spring which began with heavy rainfall and ended particularly dry, summer this year is forecast to be hotter than usual in the Balearics. Director of the regional Met. Office, Agustin Jansa said yesterday that with spring officially over this weekend, meteorological charts showed that weather conditions in spring this year fell clearly into two types. The first half, he said, had been wetter than usual with temperatures hovering around the average for the time of year. By way of contrast, the second half had been “considerably hotter and dryer than normal” claimed Jansa.
