Palma.—A man died in the early hours of yesterday morning after being hit by four vehicles as he tried to cross the Llucmajor motorway.
According to the emergency services, the injuries sustained by the pedestrian made identifying the victim nearly impossible. However, he was carrying ID and could be a 43-year-old German although the Guardia Civil are waiting for the results of the autopsy.

The incident happened at 3.30am at kilometre 11 when the victim was first hit by a Volkswagen Golf heading in the direction of Llucmajor. The driver could have done nothing to have avoided the pedestrian and the vehicle was a write off. The victim collapsed on the motorway and was then run over by an ambulance responding to an emergency in Arenal, an Audi and finally a Ford Escort.

National Police and the Guardia Civil Highway Patrol were on the scene within minutes and tested all of the drivers for alcohol.
All of them tested negative. Illumination along the stretch of road where the accident happened is very low and the drivers claim to have been unable to have seen the body.

A full investigation has been opened.
