RESIDENTS in Portol, Marratxi, are furious over the fact they have not received a postal delivery for eight weeks.
One resident who contacted the Bulletin yesterday explained that the problem is all down to a dispute between the post office and the Marratxi council. It appears that in some areas, the properties do not have a house number and the post office is refusing to deliver to properties without a number.
Residents have been busy flip-flopping from the council to the post office in a bid to resolve the situation which both parties appear to be well aware of but are refusing to solve. Fortunately, the main sorting office on the Marratxi industrial estate is holding mail for residents to collect, but locals want a postal delivery. It did appear that the council had allocated numbers to the properties but, the post office claims they are plot numbers as opposed to property numbers, so the stand-off continues.
