PALMA
THE Balearic government yesterday unveiled a 10.3 million euro aid package to help retrain the unemployed.
The announcement came just 24 hours after the latest unemployment figures showed a record 64'160 people still out of work in the Balearics.
Government spokesperson and Minister for Employment, Joana Barcelo, announced the retraining scheme explaining that the primary objective is to train people to work in the most important sectors such as tourism, hostelry, technology, communications, infant teaching, nautical and aeronautical.

The local scheme is going to be part of a new national initiative to retrain the unemployed and prepare them for the post recession work place.
