Palma.—The Christian outreach group, Street Angels, intends to extend their campaign of help to tourists to Magalluf and they are also looking at the possibility of doubling the number of hours they are on duty in Santa Ponsa.

Street Angels has proved hugely successful in cities in Britain and now they want to help Majorca also.
At the moment a group of almost two dozen volunteers are out and about in Santa Ponsa offering a helping hand or a listening ear to tourists who may be in trouble. “The biggest problem is ofcourse excessive drinking by young people,” Coordinator of Street Angels Majorca, Cameron Springthorpe said. “The response we have received from everyone has been fantastic from bar owners to the police,” he added.
The Street Angels will this week decide whether they will operate two shifts in Santa Ponsa from late evening to midnight and then into the early hours of the morning. “Obviously the later shift will mean that we will be able to help more people because this is the time when they start returning to their hotels after a night-out.” The next challenge will be Magalluf. So far Santa Ponsa has been rather like a learning experience for them and they do not doubt that Magalluf will be much harder. “We are in close contact with the police and we hope to start working in Magalluf very soon,” Springthorpe said.
