GERMAN tour operators have been unable to give summer holidays away.
According to the German business web site DW-World, many of Germany's major tour operators have been offering deeply discounted packages to traditional mass market destinations such as Majorca. According to one of Germany's tourist trade publications FVW bookings have dropped by 44 percent with most Germans preferring to stay at home for the World Cup despite efforts by travel agents and tour operators to promote the availability of big screens to watch the matches in sunshine resorts. What has not helped either has been the heatwave most of Germany has been enjoying since the World Cup started.
However, a post World Cup surge in bookings in both the UK and German markets is expected.
