CALVIA council has approved, in its last ordinary meeting, the modifications to three of the fourteen investments to be made in the town with the money from the sale of a publicly owned site in Bendinat, which was 27 million euros. This decision means that the council has decided to drop three of its investment plans and replace them with others.
The three projects to be dropped are as follows. The council has decided not to buy: a piece of ground in Son Ferrer to build a covered swimming pool; a site belonging to residents in the Galatzo urbanisation; and the site of the Bar Granada in Portals Nous. On the other hand, the council announced that they will put other projects in motion in place of the three cancelled ones.
They will spend 1.4 million euros to: cover the municipal swimming pool in Magalluf; buy a site in the Paseo de Illetes to be dedicated to social use; and buy two more sites in Illetes. According to council sources, the decision to drop the expected investments in Galatzo and Portals Nous was made because the council could not reach an agreement with the owners of the properties. With regard to the Son Ferrer swimming pool, the council is not going ahead with this project because a private company has agreed to do it instead.
