CENTRE Stage Productions is all set to rock with its latest production, Richard O'Brien's hit musical The Rocky Horror Show, which opens at the Teatre del Mar in Es Molinar on July 14. The dialogue is in Spanish but the songs are in English, and, of course, the audience is invited to take part, being provided with water pistols, newspapers, flashlights and rice for throwing at the wedding of Frank and Rocky. The multi-national cast is headed by Carlos Diaz as Frank-n-Furter, the transvestite from the planet Transexual, Victoria Samuels as Janet, Juanjo Cerdó Gost as Brad, Javier Homar Martin as Rocky, Gustavo Sorlino as Riff Raff and Maribel Vidal Martinez as Magenta. The other main roles are Alexandra Muñoz as Columbia, Miguel Rigo as Eddie, Daniel Lopez as Dr Scott, and Kike Diaz Jorge as narrator with Therese Frisk as the Usherette. Live music is provided by Daniel Lagarde, Salvador Font and Richard Vinton.
Centre Stage Productions was formed in Majorca in 1998 by Conway Jones and Robert Bateman, with the idea of attracting local young people into the world of musical theatre. Their first production was the musical Godspell, and they have not looked back since. Their next production will be Songs from the Shows in December.
The first night of The Rocky Horror Show will be filmed as part of an ITV documentary to be screened in October.
Tickets are on sale at 15 euros from Centre Stage Productions, email infoUcentrestagemallorca.com.
Performances are at 8pm July 14, 17, 21 and 24 and 8.30 and 11pm on July 15, 16, 22 and 23.
