THE Balearic Renta Agil service which helps residents fill in the annual income tax returns received a total of 65'343 declarations during the recent income tax campaign, which ended this week. This was a 7.6 percent increase from last year. Furthermore, this service, which is run by the Ministry for Economy, Trade and Innovation, helped out 51'860 people, which is 8.04 percent more people than 2004. With reference to Minorca, there was a 33.43 percent increase in the number of income tax declarations, compared to last year, said the Ministry in a communique. This is down to the fact that Minorca has two more Renta Agil offices this year; one in Mahon and one in Ciutadella. With regards to Majorca, the number of income tax declarations increased by 7.01 percent, which is due to the fact that the island also has two more income tax offices; one in Felanitx and one in Pollensa. As for Ibiza, there was a 4.74 percent increase in the number of declarations, and again two more offices were opened to ease the pressure. In Formentera, there was only a 1 percent increase. With reference to the BITEL call centre, 49'018 calls were handled regarding income tax, which is 3.14 percent more than last year.
