OVER the past few days, the Guardia civil has stepped up its search for a gang of house breakers who are targeting luxury homes and villas across the island.

Earlier this week, a gang believed to have been responsible for around 30 break ins to luxury properties in areas like Soller, Calvia, Pollensa, Valldemossa and Alcudia was closed down when six people were arrested.

However, it appears that there is another gang at large and the Guardia Civil has intensified its efforts to catch them all over the island.
The Guardia Civil is working in co-operation with the various Local Police forces and the National Police and, according to sources close to the investigation, they are apparently hunting a group of Romanians.

Three of the six arrested this week were also Romanian.
The Guardia Civl and Local police are mounting spot checks at the entrances to luxury urbanisations around the island as part of the operation while the serious crime squads are said to be following a number of leads.
