PALMA
A TOTAL of 17 young people between the ages of 16 and 20 are taking part in this year's summer camp run by the local environmental group, GOB.
The Environmental Volunteer Camp got under way at La Trapa opposite the island of Dragonera last Monday and continues until Sunday, said Miquel Angel Ballester, the co-ordinator of GOB's environmental education service.

During the day the young volunteers are involved in conservation work, including creating barriers so that goats don't eat the fruit off local trees.
The young people have also spent their first four days working on a ecological vegetable garden.
Ballester said that all the camp's food and cleaning products were environmentally friendly.
They have also been “very careful about how they use water”.
Solar panels are being used to generate the electricity that the young people need.
For the first time the camp also has five volunteers on exchange from a Valencia environmental group.
