THE Ministry for Public Works is planning to open four lanes of traffic near to Santa Ponsa in July to ease the traffic chaos which is often a daily nuisance for drivers. The roadworks between Palmanova and Peguera often cause a nightmare for residents and tourists and the Ministry is planning to provisionally open four lanes. The Minister for Public Works, Housing and Transport, Mabel Cabrer, announced this road plan when she was present at yesterday's press conference on the new underground line to the University. The roadworks between Palmanova and Peguera, as well as the roadworks between Inca and Sa Pobla, are the biggest driving headaches this summer, Mabel Cabrer added. There will be various road and traffic changes on the Inca motorway during the month of August, so that the surfacing work can be finished, the Minister advised. However, the roadworks at the Balearic University entrance will not cause problems for drivers this summer, as there will be a clear lack of students and teachers on the road during the summer holidays.
