PALMA
THE three -year-old seriously injured in Friday afternoon's three vehicle pile up near Alcudia, remained in a critical but stable condition in Palma's Son Dureta Hospital.

The young German boy, his ten-year-old brother and father were travelling in a van when the crash involved a 4x4 and a minibus carrying ten Danish holiday makers happened at 5pm near the Es Murterar power station on the outskirts of Alcudia.

Hospital sources said yesterday that the three-year-old underwent an emergency operation late on Friday night and yesterday was in a stable condition.
The elder brother and 40-year-old father were both under observation in casualty.
The father was said to have been awake “but disorientated”.
The three German tourists were apparently coming back from a day out, the mother and a third brother had stayed behind at their holiday accommodation.

A total of 18 people were involved in the accident which, according to official sources, was apparently caused by the German father failing to respect a stop sign.
