Sex fair opens its doors to an adult public

THE Erotic Fair Seda opened at the Ifebal fairs precinct yesterday afternoon, after the the organisers agreed to Balearic government demands to exclude “pornography and explicit sex” from its shows. As reported in yesterday's Bulletin, the agreement was reached at the last minute, after the government threatened to cancel the rental contract, alleging that a publicly-owned facility could not be used to promote pornography. Later it was reported that the crackdown had been ordered by Balearic leader Jaume Matas, who does not want to damage the island's tourist image by having it converted into the “porn capital” as the organisers allegedly wanted. The government's legal department said that the contract could not be cancelled without paying compensation, and finally both parties reached agreement. Yesterday afternoon's opening included the presentation of the artists who will be taking part in the fair, which runs until Sunday, and a concert by the Porno Band. In addition to stands, there will be 200 shows and films.
The performances have been directed by Conrad Son.
Other activities will include a section dedicated to gastronomy.
A spokesman for the organisers said that the fair aimed to promote businesses in the sector and inform the adult public about novelites in the field.
Various awards were due to be presented last night, including one to Salma de Nora as best Spanish porn star, to Susana Reche, as the most erotic stripper, Doris Venter as best Hungarian porn star, and Chica Mala by Malena Gracia as the most erotic song.
