PALMA
PALMA City Council intervened yesterday to ease the tensions between the local Muslim community and the Local Police which have been running high since Tuesday night's incident at Palm's main mosque in the Pere Garau neighbourhood.

Police arrested three Muslims, including the head of the Balearic Muslim League and the mosque caretaker for trying to prevent the police from entering the mosque. The Muslim community explained that the Local Police reacted violently. Over 150 Muslims mounted a noisy protest outside Palma's main Local Police station in San Fernando on Wednesday and threatened to mount a much larger demonstration this Saturday.

The Local Police claim that they entered the mosque searching for a rider of a moped who rode through a routine roadside traffic control and hid inside the Mosque.
