PAUL Davidson, the new Chairman of Real Mallorca football Club, told the Majorca Daily Bulletin this morning that he wanted to create a British supporters club and he was hoping that the local club could boost their fan base by up to 6'000 thanks to the large British and German expatriate community. Davidson, who is in the process of buying Real Mallorca for an estimated 42 million euros said that he had been a fan of the club for many years. "I like the way they play," he said from his hotel in Majorca. "I will not be interfering in the running of the club. Vicente Grande will remain as Chairman. " And Davidson will not be sitting in the owner´s box either. "I am a fan and I will be sitting in the terraces along with all the other fans." Davidson will also be moving his multi-million euro plumming business to the island. He is also in the process of buying a home here.
His proposed purchase of Real Mallorca happened almost overnight. On Saturday he looked at the club, spent Sunday looking through the paperwork and on Monday agreed to buy the first division club. He said that the Grande family were fantastic people. He also said that they would be looking to make some new signings. Full interview in tomorrow´s newspaper.
