PALMA
THE Nigerian community in Majorca yesterday launched a campaign to raise funds to provide 33-year-old Mabel Innocent who died on Thursday from swine flu with a “dignified burial” in Palma cemetery.

Sources for the 2'000-strong Nigerian community said yesterday that they are waiting to be informed when the body is going to be released for burial by Palma's Municipal Funeral Service.

The United Nigerian Association here in Palma has taken on the case of Innocent who had been staying with a friend in Palma for the past month, had little or no money and only a distant relative in the city. According to the association Vice-President, Prince Monday, Innocent, who was apparently working as a prostitute in Calvia, only came to Majorca a month ago and was perfectly fit and healthy when she arrived on the island.
