PALMA
THE Guardia Civil investigating the discovery of the charred body of a woman in the boot of a burnt-out Audi off the Muro to Can Picafort road on Monday night is believed to be that of a 25-year-old Romanian.

The alarm was raised just before 9pm on Monday by a couple who drove past the blazing vehicle.
The charred body was found in the spare wheel well with her hands tied together.
Yesterday, samples of the victim's DNA were sent to Barcelona for testing in a bid to confirm the identity of the victim but the Guardia Civil are working on the theory that it is Ana Niculai who was reported missing by her boyfriend on Monday morning.

He was one of the first people investigating officers spoke to yesterday morning as a team of forensics returned to the scene of what the Guardia Civil is pretty certain is a crime.

AUTOPSY
The Guardia Civil also questioned the victim's business partner with whom she had recently opened a bar in Palma.
The results of the autopsy carried out yesterday morning revealed that the victim was dead before the car was set ablaze.
Sources close to the investigation have said that the Guardia Civil are working on at least three theories and yesterday began collecting all the recent video footage taken by CCTV cameras at all the petrol service stations along the Muro to can Picafort road as part of the hunt for the killer.

In particular, they are looking for anyone either buying or filling up a can of petrol during the hours leading up to the car being torched.
Neighbours and friends of Ana Niculai at the Las Palmeras block of apartments where she lived were stunned and shocked by the news yesterday. “She was a lovely young woman. She's lived here for a couple of years and never bothered anyone. She was always very polite.” said one neighhbour.
