FIRE fighters swiftly dealt with a forest fire in Bellver woods behind the castle yesterday morning.
The alarm was raised at 9.55am with the fire reported to have been raging dangerously near a cluster of houses. Backed by air support, fire fighters managed to controlled the blaze by 10.30am, preventing major evacuation of nearby homes. However 900 square metres of woodland was destroyed by the blaze.
