Staff Reporter ES Baluard, Palma's Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, was yesterday the venue for the fifth edition of the Fashion Seminar, which featured some of the top players in the fashion world as well as aspiring young Balearic designers.

This year round, the event focused on luxury products.
It was organised by Ars Nova Foundation and sponsored by the Council of Majorca.
The Fashion Seminar was officially opened yesterday by the Head of the Council of Majorca's Economy and Taxation department, Miquel Angel Flaquer, and the Director of Economy, Cristina Cerdó, as well as Sebastián Dorignac, Head of the Ars Nova Foundation.

The fashion event “gets better each year with regards to level of participants”, said Miquel Angel Flaquer. It is the Council of Majorca's wish “to continue supporting the young designers on the island,” he added. A new feature of this year's event was a fashion catwalk, where the young Balearic designers presented their new creations.

The seminar, aimed at improving the training of fashion students and professionals, was made up of three debates where participants talked about luxury products, brand power and quality dressmaking.

Many leading figures in the fashion world took part in yesterday's event, such as Arturo Navarro, Director of the Oreal group, and Ramon Sole, Director of Loewe in Europe.
