Palma.—The Majorca Daily Bulletin, which is celebrating its 50th birthday, will receive the Gold Medal from the Council of Majorca as part of the celebrations to mark Majorca Day.

The newspaper held a gala dinner earlier this year in which the paper's founder, Pere A. Serra, was presented with an Honorary MBE by the British ambassador to Spain, Giles Paxman. The Bulletin is the only English language daily newspaper in Spain. Other gold medal winners include the pacifist, Joan Carrero Saralegui, the mental health association Estel De Llevant and Antoni Niell Florit, who founded the Lloret Senior Citizens association.

Winners in the Jaume II prize category include Fabian Leon Parra, one of the finalists in the Masterchef TV series, the artist Joan Bennassar Vives, the designer Miguel Adrover, the boat building company Construcciones Navales Bennasar, the basketball players Alba Torrens Salom and Inmaculada Zanoguera and the journalist Magdalena Traveria Pia. Congrulations to you all.
