Wine tradition

SANTA MARGALIDA
THE ex-Mayor of Santa Margalida, Jaume Ribot and his family have resurrected the old wine tradition in the the area known as the “route of the cavaliers”. This area is where the infamous “Bad Count”, Ramon Zaforteza Fuster in the XVII century hired his land out to produce wine. Now this family have once again rescued the vineyard and are now the only wine cellar in the area with such a great historic wine past. This week a big party ws organised to celebrate the opening of the vineyard.

Green light for school

SENCELLES
THE Urbanism Department within the Council of Majorca have given the green light for the building of a new school in Sencelles. Last week the town council received the go-ahead to construct a new school on the football field. As a result, the Ministry for Education can now speed things up and get on with building this school building.

Negative effects

MANACOR
THE Manacor town council is studying the possibility of transforming the road which runs through the centre of the town into a bustling boulevard. This road, which is the main through road for drivers, will soon receive less visitors when the new North bypass is opened in a few months, and many local businesses on this road are worried about these negative effects. As a result the council wants to create a walking boulevard with trees and gardens, along similar lines to Las Ramblas in Palma.
