THE union committee of the security company Trablisa, formed by the CCOO, USO, UGT and CSI-CSIF unions, has called a meeting tomorrow of all the workers to discuss whether they will take further industrial action at Palma airport.

This move was made by the unions after they failed to reach an agreement with the security company. The meeting will start at 11am and is expected to last until 4pm.

According to the CCOO spokesman Emilio Cifre, there is total unity among the workers for strike action to denounce the “disgraceful” offer by the company which in no way improves the situation of the employees.

Last Saturday some 350 security workers in Palma airport supported the strike action and, most likely, will do so again this Saturday.
The cause of the problem is that Trablisa has altered the hours of the workers in a “totally unilateral” way without consulting the employees.
In addition to this, according to the head of the USO union, Arturo Gonzalez, the company refuses to grant a bonus above that in the agreement, some 100 euros, which they already give to their workers in other Spanish airports which also handle a lot of passengers, such as Malaga, Madrid and Barcelona.

This is the main reason, according to Cifre, together with the “unjustified” change in hours that the workers will agree to strike again this Saturday.
