LEGENDARY jazz musician George Benson plays at the Casino in Palmanova tonight and kicks off what will be the island's second Jazz Voyeur Festival.
The American star will start proceedings this year at the Gran Casino as part of the festival which aims to bring top international jazz acts to perform on the island. Apart from being a great singer and 8-time Grammy Award winner, George Benson, currently on a mini-tour of Spain, is regarded as one of the best jazz guitarists of his generation and will be playing a collection of his greatest hits, including “Give Me the Night,” “On Broadway” and “Turn your love Around.” He may also play exclusive tracks from his latest album, “Irreplacable.” Also performing later on this year in the Voyeur Festival are Kool and the Gang, Brad Mehldau, Ray Haynes and The Blind Boys of Alabama band.
The festival organisers hope to blend the talents of emerging jazz bands with well-established classic acts like George Benson.
Events will be taking place around the island until late November and will be staged at a number of exclusive and select venues.
