THE Balearic government will next week be putting a new adverse weather warning system (METEOBAL) into operation.
Regional Interior Minister José María Rodríguez, chairs the Balearic civil protection and emergency commission. With the summer entering into its final phase, the weather warning system will help the local authorities predict adverse changes in the weather and prepare for any possible emergencies such as torrential rains and sudden cold snaps which are common when Summer merges into Autumn. José María Rodríguez said that the primary aim is to enable the emergency and security services to stay one step ahead of the weather and provide the public with all the necessary advice and warnings in good time. The new system will have four states of emergency ranging from green, very low, to red, very high.
