PALMA
PRO bullfighting groups, including the National bull fight platform Mesa del Toro, yesterday expressed their concern about the precedent the banning of bull fights in Catalonia could set for the rest of the country.

Eduardo Martin-Penato, president of the national platform, said that not every region of Spain shares the same opinion as Catalonia and that there are areas where bull fighting is an extremely important part of the local culture and agricultural industry.

He also stressed that in the Balearics, where there has been support for the Catalonia decision and calls for a similar ban in Palma, for the most part of the region, bull fights are popular such as those held in Inca and Muro.
