Palma.—Sources for the Majorcan Hotel federation said yesterday that last occupancy for last month outstripped July 2013 and that trend is expected to continue through August.

However, yet again, these claims conflict slightly with what the UK market is reporting. According to sources here in Majorca, both the UK and German markets have grown significantly this year.

But, reports out of the UK, where some leading tour operators are offering 200 pounds off Majorcan holidays in the middle of peak season. The holiday market in general is down two percent and Majorca is only up four percent on last year. “As yet we have not received any stop sales for Majorca and are selling a lot of late bookings, far more than this time last year,” UK sources told the Bulletin yesterday.
