The aid package comes in the form of low-interest, long-term loans are farmers who have lost more than 20 percent of their crops are entitled to apply for government aid. Farmers located in areas where water resources have dropped by at least 20 percent are also in line for cash help.
The maximum loan any one farmer can apply for per farm is 25.000 euros, the minimum is 3.000 euros.
Large scale live stock farmers in the eight drought-hit regions are also entitled to apply for cash aid.
