Palma.—This year continues to be one of the worst for forest fires in the past two decades with another bush blaze striking Majorca.
The alarm was raised yesterday afternoon after flames were spotted in the pine forest in Na Burguesa, which was struck by fire only last month when 16 hectares of woodland were destroyed.

Yesterday's blaze was not as serious but fire fighters were prepared for the worst and special planes battled the blaze from the skies.
The fire started very near the road which leads up to the Genova monument and the flames spread very quickly, fanned by the warm breeze.
However, fire fighters responded rapidly and brought the fire under control within an hour with only 500 square metres of pine forest destroyed.
