Palma.—More than 17'000 people took part in the 42 kilometre walk from Guell to Lluc monastery over the weekend. The 15th anniversary event, sponsored by the Bulletin's sister publication Ultima Hora, occurred without major incidents although many of the participants showed clear signs of exhaustion on arrival at the finishing line.

Stretching, massages, drinking water from the local fountain, dipping their feet into the water, and just laying down on the floor were some of the solutions many of those who took part in the race entitled “from Guell to Lluc on foot,” turned to. Most just chose to rest for a while and then take one of the many free buses available to all the participants and head home straight after.

Throughout the event 8.000 litres of water and refreshments and 2.500 kilos of fruit were distributed between the walkers. Jose Luis Hervas, Julian Fernandez and Vincent Garau in the “Nordic Walking” category were the race winners. The Guardia Civil helped organise the event, controlling the road traffic and assisting the participants when necessary.
