Palma.—King Juan Carlos arrived in Majorca yesterday to join other members of the royal family who are enjoying their annual Summer holiday at Marivent Palace on the outskirts of Palma
Today, the King will be holding talks with the President of the Balearics, Jose Ramon Bauza, Parliamentary Speaker, Margalida Duran, the Mayor of Palma, Mateo Isern and the President of the Council of Majorca, Maria Salom, at Almudaina Palace.

Then, this evening he will be holding the annual dinner with the local authorities at that will be attended by Queen Sofia, Crown Prince Felipe and his wife Princess Letizia who have been on the island the best part of last week.

The Crown Prince competed in the King's Cup sailing regatta and also accompanied the Queen and Princess Elena on a visit to Andraitx to thank the fire fighters who battled the blaze and met the evacuees and volunteers.

The King is expected to remain on the island until Friday when he will be having his Summer meeting with the Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, at Marivent Palace. The two men are only expected to meet the once this Summer. Traditionally the King would meet the PM twice during the Summer holidays but that has not happened for the past three years.
