PALMA
PALMA'S fraud squad yesterday swooped on a number of addresses in Palma and made five arrests as part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged over-inflated cost of constructing the Palma Arena velodrome during the former Partido Popular Balearic government's legislature. “Operation Espada” was first launched towards the end of last year but yesterday, the anti-fraud squad, led by the anti-Corruption judge Pedro Horrach, launched its biggest phase of the operation to date and early yesterday afternoon, sources close to the investigation were not ruling out further arrests and searches.
