THREE small bombs exploded yesterday in Palma, causing no injuries but widespread chaos across the city. The explosions followed a phone warning made in the name of the Basque separatist group ETA.

Yesterday's first bomb exploded at a restaurant in Portixol, the second struck a restaurant nearby and the third exploded at the Plaza Mayor car park in central Palma. A government spokesperson said that they suspected that the same people who murdered two Civil Guardsmen in Palmanova ten days ago were responsible for yesterday´s attacks. Police have always maintained that the Palmanova bombers were still on the island and yesterday it appeared that their suspicions were confirmed.
